WORKSHOP
Workshop is a great way to know the basic of Japanese calligraphy. All the materials will be provided.
This workshop can also be customised how you want,
such as a corporate event, a birthday package, a group lesson, and so on.

Why not enjoy a special creative experience together?
Work with your dad to create a one-of-a-kind piece on traditional shikishi paper, tote bag or canvas.
Pour your thoughts into each brushstroke and complete a unique artwork as a team.
No experience is needed beginners are very welcome!
TOTE BAG DESIGNING WORKSHOP
Participants choose a Japanese word or character that’s meaningful to them and learn the basics of shodō (Japanese calligraphy) before writing it onto an eco tote bag—combining mindful art with sustainability.
Optionally they can use various colour paints, not only Sumi ink, to make it more personal and show their creativity.
£22 per person including all the materials.
This workshop will be held in my house on station road in Lingfield. Parents are welcome to stay.

Christmas Workshop for Children
Children are going to write their favourite word in Japanese on a cotton Eco bag, using brush calligraphy, to take home with them. They will be using various colours, not only Sumi ink, to let children more creative.
£22 per person including all the materials.
This workshop will be held in my house on station road in Lingfield. Parents are welcome to stay.
Saturday 20th December 2025, 3-4pm
Japanese brush calligraphy (書道 shodō) has a timeless elegance, and giving a customized piece as a Christmas present adds a personal and cultural depth that makes it really special.
Names, meaningful words or wishes in kanji (like 愛 ai for love, 希望 kibo for hope, or 和 wa for harmony/peace) work wonderfully.
You’ll have 90 mins of calligraphy session followed by you creating your own artwork. I want to help you make something beautiful, and I’ll guide you through it.
£40 per person with all the materials and Japanese tea and snacks provided.
You’ll have a framed artwork wrapped beautifully as Christmas gift to take home with you.

お父さんに渡す色紙アートを作りましょう！
’だいすき’や’ありがとう’などの一言をお習字で練習し、色紙に書きます。
その後、折り紙でお花を作り色紙に貼り完成させます。
年齢問わず参加して頂けるワークショップとなっております🎵

Japanese Calligraphy
& Origami Workshop
In this workshop, you’ll create an artwork by writing Thank you (Arigatou) in Japanese on a Shikishi hard board and make an Origami flower to stick next to the Thank you.
You will learn basic calligraphy strokes and how to write thank you (Arigatou) in Hiragana.
After that we will be making an Origami flower (shown in picture)
For your final piece of art, you write Arigatou on a gold edged Shikishi hard board and stick the origami flower next to it
All the materials will be provided.
We will have tea break with cakes between.

Valentine’s Day Workshop
The workshop will start with the introduction of Japanese calligraphy with basic strokes and move onto writing ‘love’ in kanji character.
At the end of the workshop, everyone will write it on a gold edged Shikishi hard board to take home.
We will have tea break with chocolate between.
All the material will be provided.
Wednesday 15th Nov 2024
In this workshop, you’ll receive a Calligraphy starter set which you'll take home after the workshop, to keep practising at home.We will start learning simple strokes to begin with, and aim to be able to write your name or any words you like, by the end of the workshop.A break with Japanese tea and snacks will be provided after one hour.Cost: £50 (includes Japanese tea and snacks and a starter set)*In the starter set you'll have a brush, a bottle of ink, an underlay, 15 x calligraphy washi papers and two practise exampes.
